During our long walk back to the train station in Liege, we decided to take our fourth day easy and spend it exploring Ghent. After sleeping in late, we decided upon Ramen for brunch at Eetramen. We got to slurp our warm soups while looking out the store-front high-top bar. It was a beautifully rainy day and being a Wednesday, there were few people walking around.
We spent the day slowly walking around town, popping in to the unique shops and cafes.
As soon as it was socially acceptable for us to begin drinking, we popped into Dulle Griet, situated in the Vrijdagmarkt. It was here we were first introduced to the magical combination of cubed cheese and celery salt.
Then, we chose Cafe Barraza for some amazing Belgium beers and views of the river.
We had a delicious meal of spaghetti and goulash upstairs at De Croone.
Not done with the night yet, we had a drink at ‘t Galgenhuis. We finished the night by wandering around, musing at the lit-up buildings and canal. A couple blocks from our apartment was a woman selling guhwein. It was such a beautiful courtyard, we couldn’t resist. One paper cup filled with hot mulled wine and we were off to bed.
