The night prior, we were talking about what to do on this day since we were not interested in going to Ross-on-Wye as planned. One of our favorite meals was on day three in the town of Ludlow on our way to Chester, at The Church Inn. We really liked the town but didn’t have much time there, so we decided to head back up as it’s only 40 minutes north. Right when we pull into the city center, the quarter is filled with stands for a Farmers market. We didn’t know that was going on! We wandered the streets of the downtown, stopping for coffee, a scone with clotted cream and jam, grabbing some dirty sock cheese at the farmers market (had no idea it would be awful when we bought it but it was binned right away -look at me sounding British!), and buying more gin.
Once we were shopped out, we walked by the city’s castle and later tucked in to The Church Inn again for some proper pies.
On our way back, we stopped at a butcher Mike found just out of town to buy some pies and goodies for tonight. After that, we dropped the car off at the rental shop and walked into town to buy ANOTHER bottle of gin I had my eye on before the trip, that could only be bought in this store in Hereford. We grabbed a couple pints before heading back to the room for some Mead, pies, sausage rolls, and leftover Indian!
