MIKE AND JESS' TRAVEL DIARY

Thailand and Cambodia Trip

Day 4 - December 4 2014

We woke up and had breakfast at the hotel and left by 8:30. My Dad paid for tour guides with a van to drive us to each of the temples we wanted to see. The ancient ruins built almost a thousand years ago are, in many places, very well preserved. The oldest carvings and stories etched into the sides are magnificent. Walking through the halls that people walked down a thousand years ago is unlike anything I have ever experienced.

There are no restrictions. You can touch, climb, walk around all of the temples. The only ropes blocking anything off is what can be very dangerous to stand on . You can climb the ancient steps, hardly safe, to get to the very top and look out.  The itinerary we chose for the day worked out very well. The temples were at some times deserted and when not, they were not busy at all. We were able to take pictures of everything we wanted without people in the way.

We stopped for a great lunch in an open-air restaurant near the temples.

We have to keep off the grass but not off the ancient temples...

It was an amazing, awe-inspiring, and exhausting day.

We took a dip in the hotel pool and cooled off before going to dinner on Pub Street.

This time we chose a “Tex-Mex” restaurant… Everything we ordered including fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas- had what seemed like  a marinara sauce poured on top… We have learned to stick to local menus.
