MIKE AND JESS' TRAVEL DIARY

Thailand and Cambodia Trip

Day 6 - December 6 2014

I woke up with a moderate case of food poisoning (darn you, morning glory!) but we had yet another long day traveling in taxis and airports ahead of us. We took a car to the airport in Cambodia followed by a flight to Bankok. After another round of security and passport checks to get on another flight to Krabi. We are up to 7 stamps on our passports when we started out with only one, which is awesome!

Krabi is incredibly lush and dense. It reminded me of Hawai’i, but even greener somehow. As we drove into the area,  we got glimpses of limestone cliffs shooting straight out of the forest. This area is much cleaner than Cambodia, and the vibe is much more relaxed that Bangkok. By the end of the drive to the hotel, I am sure we will adore Krabi.

The hotel was amazing. More infinity pools, nice rooms, a restaurant and bar close to the beach with live bands. We were just a few steps away from the ocean.

Exhausted from the traveling and still recovering from the food illness, Mike and I walk across the street to a Thai Indian fusion restaurant and bring some food back to the hotel. We ate together on our balcony,  and then he got ready to head out for drinks with the rest of the party. I was not feeling up to going out so I sat in the comfy chair on our balcony, listening to the live band, the ocean in the background, and read my book until I fell asleep.

Mike and the parents rented motorbikes and rode around the town for a little bit looking for a bar. Unluckily for them, it was the Thailand President’s birthday, which means alcohol is not served in most places. Once they saw all the bars were closed, they drove back to the hotel, got some food and rested.
